About the Role
This position is for a subject matter expert in residential technology, serving as the primary technical lead for system configuration, network architecture, and post-installation support.
This individual is the bridge between physical installation and final delivery. You are responsible for "lighting up" the project: configuring the Crestron Home OS, deploying the home network, and ensuring the system is fully operational. Once a project is complete, you serve as the Tier-3 escalation point for service, utilizing your intimate knowledge of the configuration to resolve complex issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Configuration & Commissioning (The "Closer")
Crestron Home Deployment: Take ownership of the project after physical install. configure the Crestron Home processor, define rooms, bind drivers, and build custom scenes to meet client lifestyle needs.
System Commissioning: Perform the final "fire-up" of all equipment. Validate that all subsystems (Lighting, Shades, HVAC, Audio/Video) are communicating correctly with the Crestron Home processor.
UI Optimization: Customize the Crestron Home user interface on touch panels and mobile devices, ensuring a clean, intuitive experience for the homeowner before handover.
Network Architecture & Implementation
Network Setup: specific responsibility for configuring the project network backbone. This includes setting up Routers and Managed Switches (e.g. Netgear and Ubiquiti).
Advanced Networking: Implement VLANs to segregate IoT traffic, and manage IGMP Snooping to ensure stable performance for AV-over-IP (Crestron NVX) systems.
Wi-Fi Tuning: Perform heat mapping and WAP placement tuning to ensure seamless roaming and zero dead zones throughout the property.
Support & Service
Service: Identify and resolve service and support issues.
Remote Management: Utilize Crestron XiO Cloud, OVRC, and Unifi Site manager to diagnose and remotely push configuration updates, manage firmware, and reboot devices without rolling a truck.
Client Handover: Lead the final "White Glove" walkthrough, training the client on their new network and Crestron Home interface.
Skills and Abilities Required
Experience: 5-6+ years in residential AV integration.
Proven track record of commissioning complex systems
Crestron Home: Deep familiarity with the OS 3/4 configuration app, driver management, and scene creation.
Networking: ability to log into a managed switch and configure ports, set up static IP schemes, and troubleshoot DHCP/DNS issues. Understanding of Multicast traffic.
Certifications:
Crestron Home Certification (Required).
Crestron NVX certification (Required).
Soft Skills:
This is an end user-facing position. The ability to listen to client service issues and respond appropriately is required.
